Starting in her home on a Sears Kenmore sewing machine, Catherine Horea, designed, cut and sewed the first Coquette line of open crotch panties, corsets, baby dolls, garter belts and French maid outfits and sold them to local stores in her home town.
Today Coquette International employs four young designers and sells world wide.
To begin the celebration of the 30th anniversary, Coquette International is launching the 2009 Darque Catalog in Paris at the Interfiliere Show in January 2009.Darque is the fetish line of Coquette which has grown into main stream wear. From dresses, corsets, skirts, stockings, shorts to catsuits, wet look and PVC give the Coquette Darque girl a stunning aura. It creates a sensation in every crowd as was seen at the Toronto Fashion Week in October were Coquette made a big slash at the event. Head designer Elaine Carson , designer Carrie Russell and Catherine Horea mixed and mingled with the crowd. Fashion File immediately flagged Carson down to speak to her about her outfit (which was a PVC piece from the upcoming Darque collection to be released at the Paris Interfiliere Show in Jan. 2009). The ladies posed for countless pictures and were an inspiration to many designers.
